There was that road that somebody had walked
Their feet creating a steepness left behind
A cliff that hung too precariously
With a sheet of freezing water that covers too well
Then there was that mountain I had slipped down
going beyond valleys and gorges unseen
That desert you know lay not that far beyond
Where the sand still flew, enveloping till eternity
Which knows how still to blind and fool all senses
But the oasis has stayed dry ever since
waiting and waiting and I wonder why
The clouds long poured out all that they had
No plains, no lushness, the greenness so evasive
The rainbow too fell ages ago
colour by colour, sinking and sinking
And left there are just the forsaken, some forlorn rocks
who know not what to do with themselves anymore
Where but in my heart, all of this but in my heart
Their feet creating a steepness left behind
A cliff that hung too precariously
With a sheet of freezing water that covers too well
Then there was that mountain I had slipped down
going beyond valleys and gorges unseen
That desert you know lay not that far beyond
Where the sand still flew, enveloping till eternity
Which knows how still to blind and fool all senses
But the oasis has stayed dry ever since
waiting and waiting and I wonder why
The clouds long poured out all that they had
No plains, no lushness, the greenness so evasive
The rainbow too fell ages ago
colour by colour, sinking and sinking
And left there are just the forsaken, some forlorn rocks
who know not what to do with themselves anymore
Where but in my heart, all of this but in my heart
